What I did today and how I'm feeling

I am concerned about my shin splints’ resurgence today. While running my gait was super tight and with short strides trying not to put stress on my shins. Today I got a new kind of rolly device to loosen muscles and some knee-high compression socks which, along with a rigid icing, NSAID, and calcium routine in the next few days, will hopefully make a difference in how I feel on Friday.

I didn’t have to do any foraging, but tomorrow I’ll have to get back out there. I didn’t really think about foraging today, except when buying food for a picnic with some cousins. Purchasing food plays a huge role in filtering the people who can interact with spaces. BiRite as a cultural experience is inaccessible to somebody not buying food. (And, Amelia’s obsession reminds me that BiRite is totally a cultural experience! Of being in San Francisco, and in California with attention placed on how food is sourced and treated.)

I did make one diversion from my 100% wild or waste food diet today. “Oh look! A chocolate pot de creme!” my mom exclaimed at lunch. I had a few spoonfuls, which tastes *so good* when you haven’t had any fresh dairy. Even when you’re eating regular and great food, the pot de creme is incredible.

I’ve been super rigid about my foraging rules but this omission helped me have more fun.

The milk I drank a few days ago *did* smell kindof funky, so I poured it down the drain and drank the other quart.

    Dinner picnic

Oh look! A chocolate pot de creme!!

The lunch spread. Spot my tupperware of beans and two foraged apples!

Breakfast, that ended up not being so good. I take 1000mg of calcium daily (because I’m a bit deficient and also for athletes it’s a really good idea to maintain bone density and avoid stress fractures) and also advil because of injuries.
